Global Geophysical is delighted to announce the appointment of industry HSE guru Jeff Howell to the position of Vice President of worldwide Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment (QHSE). For 20 years Jeff managed QSHE initiatives for industry leading Western Geophysical and WesternGeco. He held many in-field and area management positions ultimately leading to Director of Worldwide QHSE. Jeff had QHSE management authority over the world’s largest land, marine, and transition zone seismic organization and was instrumental in designing and implementing Western’s safety and quality programs during the formative years of industrial safety programs in our industry. Jeff also worked extensively for Schlumberger Oilfield Services as a US Land QHSE Manager, and as the North and South America (NSA) QHSE Training Coordinator.
Degner commented on Howell’s arrival at Global. “Jeff’s broad understanding of QHSE Management Systems, and his exceptional rapport with people will ensure that we have an expedient and comprehensive rollout of our new QSHE management system.” Degner stated further, ” Having personally worked all around the world with him, I know that Jeff understands human behavior and foreign cultures to an extent that we can focus some emphasis of our safety management system on human behavior issues, with the expectation that we will surpass QHSE performance typically derived from industry standard ”process and procedure“ systems. This will move Global ahead into a new paradigm of QHSE performance that is focused on a true and intuitive understanding of human behavior.”
Jeff has lived in, worked on, and traveled to many countries throughout West Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Far East, FSU and Latin America.
Jeff has a close working relationship with the International Association of Geophysical Contractors (IAGC) and has served on the IAGC Health, Safety, and Environmental Steering Committee, and the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (OGP) Health and Safety Committee. |
